hi all.
i've posted a question here a few days ago and the reply was really helpful (10x!), so i decided to try and bother you with another question...

i've recently came across a 1969 canon exee slr camera. the only problem is i don't know much about cameras.
i'm intrested in adding lenses and changing lenses in my camera. the problem is it's a 1969 camera, and i don't really know where to find lenses that will fit.
will any lens fit? do i need to look for special-made lenses for this camera? how does it all work?

thenks.

This is not a good choice for what you have in mind. The Canon EXEE was a real oddball, with a unique front-element-only lens interchange system. While it worked reasonably well, it was not a market success and the very limited range of lenses that were made for it are virtually impossible to find today.

Just about any other Canon (FTb, TLb, EF, AE1, etc) would be a much better choice. all of these can accept standard FD mount lenses which are excellent and plentiful. A second choice would be the older series (FT, TL) that use FL mount lenses. The FL and FD mounts can be freely interchanged, but the older cameras and FL lenses require you to stop down for metering.

Another oddball Canon to avoid is the Pellix: it was a neat camera but its special non-moving mirror is very delicate and pretty much impossible to repair.

I used to have a Canon EXEE and I owned 3 lenses, the 35mm, 50mm, and 125mm. The complete lens system only comes with 4 lenses: 35mm, 50mm, 95mm and 125mm. I don't think there should be a real problem finding the lenses, I've seen them occasionally listed on eBay. They should cost anything between $10-$50 each. Look out for the ones marked with "EX" on the lens, those are the right ones. The EXEE isn't the greatest system, but it's a nice simple shooter and targeted for the beginner because of it's features and price. Heavy though!

thank you for the info.

i guess it'll be a bit difficult for me to get the 4 lenses, since i don't live in the US (and neither in Japan..), and ebay is also a problem, for the above reason.

i'll look into the AE1, maybe i'll find it somewhere.
10x again.
