Hi Jonny-

I also have a Vivitar 70-150 zoom but it doesn't bear any resemblance to yours. Vivitar sourced these lenses from a number of manufacturers. Mine is a one-touch and yours looks like a two. Loose barrels are usually the result of just a few screws getting loose and when tightened, the whole problem goes away.

If you want to dig in further, I would suggest that you remove the rubber "grips" over the two adjusting rings and see if a few screws show up in access holes. Just peel them back and take a look. In general, lenses of this type come apart into two main assemblies and that is where the loose screws are usually found.

But you are on your own in that decision as your mileage may vary. I don't have any specific experience with your lens, and can't take responsibility for it. Just take your time you stand agood chance of fixing it.

Mike
