I've just aquired a Minolta Hi-Matic E that doesn't work.

The wind lever is impossible to move more than halfway.

When I press the shutter button the aperture/shutter blades move slightly, but then move back again as I release the button. It never goes "click". Does the E shutter work without batteries? If the shutter blades were stuck I guess I would be able to wind and press the shutter, but there is something wrong here. Any ideas?
Thanks!
