Cautionary note here, that I own neither of the lenses mentioned, but according to what I've read, the 2.8 is nice and sharp close up, but not as good as the 2.0 at distance.

On the other hand, according the Ken Rockewell, the 28/2.8 AIS is the sharpest there is:

Maybe Rockwell didn't look as closely at the corners as Rorslett did? Anyway, it seems that the 2.8 is very sharp in at least part of its range. If you go to both those sites and look up your current lens as well, you'll get at least some idea of how those two reviewers compare the two.
