OK, here's an update on the situation: I decided to strip the camera for parts, although I don't need any myself so if anyone needs a screw or other parts from this camera I'll happily ship them out (small parts only! Anything heavy and you can pay postage on it). I have the vinyl from the front of the camera, although the metal sheet underneath was kind of destroyed when I took it off. I believe the fault was either a bit of grit in the gears or something was amiss with the mirror mechanism, either way it wasn't a simple fix as I had to strip it right down to get to the gears anyway, and I don't have any references for the MTL 5B to see if the mirror mechanism is as it should be. Don't ask me what goes where though - I did take photos (which I will share in this thread) but the parts have all gone into component draws and are mixed up! |
