Flexaret lenses are often extremely stiff to open. Recently I tried to open the front element of a Flexaret VI taking lens, but the retaining ring with ''Belar'' written on it withstood all my efforts. Finally I soaked it twice for a night in aceton, which might finish off the coating, but I could get clean the fungus in between the lens elements. The barrel inside the lens was painted black and the paint glued the glass elements together. This came off in aceton. All the rings unscrew normally (anticlockwise). To take the whole shutter-lens unit apart you also need to unscrew the rear element of the lens inside the camera (may also be extremely stiff).
