Do you have another lens to try on the camera? I have notes for cleaning the diaphragms in the 50mm lenses; if it's a zoom it may be more difficult. I don't know if you're in the mood for a DIY project, it would not be terribly expensive to have this done professionally (or for that matter, to replace the lens, probably)
