Author Message   Bossman Tinkerer Username: Bossman Post Number: 102 Registered: 02-2009 Rating: N/A Votes: 0 Posted on Thursday, September 03, 2009 - 08:02 pm:    It's been years since I have done an MG (or even a TR-3) so I'm only guessing but yes, that is the retaining ring and it will unscrew!!~ Try tapping the ring with a punch or flat screwdriver, make a scribe mark so you can watch to see if it is moving. Keep tapping...it will loosen if you hve patience.
