Ideal is solid neoprene (not the sponge form). This is not easy to find, but if you go to the hardware store and look for the smallest available faucet washer, you may have a good start. Otherwise, an old sink pad, tennis shoe rubber, something like that. Stay away from using a large rubber band. Those either get hard or get gummy with time.
