You squeeze the panels on each side of the lens to allow the front door to fold upward. You can also bypass the double exposure prevention by twiddling the little gears under the frame opening in the direction of film travel with the back open while simultaneously turning the advance knob. If you remove the front lens elements for cleaning the lenses and shutter, you will need to recollimate the lens unless you are very careful to note the exact point at which the front lens mount detaches. This is a great little post-war camera designed by Hubert Nerwin. The 3-element Novar version is not likely to bring more than about $25 on eBay in good working order.
