Good Day to All,

I recently found a Retinette 1A in my garage. It belonged to my grandfather. Last week I had no understanding of cameras, but in the past few days my research on this camera has allowed me to learn a great deal (depth of field, circle of confusion, etc).

I said all that to say:

The film advancing lever functions, the film advances. The settings for distance, appeture, shutter speed function. Film can be loaded.
But...the shutter does not open, it does not function
When the shutter release button is depressed it unlocks the film, allowing it to advance, but it does not open the shutter.

Could one of you kind-hearted, wise-minded, good-people please help.
