I recently picked up another XG-7 for a really good price (free!) and
after cleaning it up it seemed to work perfectly. Since it looked like
it had never had an autowinder attached, I decided to test it with one
of my winders. It seemed to work at first, but then I noticed that the
shutter speed never changed even under different lighting conditions.
Removing the back revealed that the shutter curtains were never
opening. They were apparently both being tripped at the same time and
travelling closed. I can turn the winder off and wind manually and the
shutter works fine. My other Winder G has the same effect. Both
winders work perfectly on both my X-700's and my first XG-7, so it's
definitely the camera. What I can't figure out is how the winder is
affecting the shutter on this body. There are only 2 connections,
ground and a single pin near the tripod socket. The winder and body
seem to be communicating, it winds when it's supposed to and the red
LED doesn't stay on. Any ideas?
