This controls the auto focus using a foto eye for each. The foto eye measures a fixed distance on the slide in place. The foto eyes could have move out of their operating range or the board could have a bad component on it. I found a bad transistor on mine. If you would be interested in selling your p3800 I would be interested in buying it for parts. The mechanics inside are wore and I need parts which I can not obtain. Gary
