What "rubbers" are you talking about. I haven't been into a Pentax in a few months but I don't remember any rubber bumpers (like Konica) or rubber sound damping sleeves (like newer P&S's).

What I would figure is that there might be a couple problems. First the windlock has been over stressed and bent allowing repeated windings.

And secondly, if the shutter itself really isn't being cocked fully, the push-me-pull-you levers have buckled and no longer stroke far enough to latch the curtains. You can tell this by looking at the curtains and seeing if they travel both directions during cocking.
