I have a TL super where the CDS cells were worn out and had the same behavior you have. I replaced the CDS cell from a junker and it works OK.

You would need to remove the top cover and test the resistance of the CDS cells to determine if this is the problem on your camera. The cells are glued into the back of the eyepiece.
