I have a Contaflex polarising filter in which some 20-30 roughly parallel wavy lines (much like 0,5mm-thick worms) occupy almost the entire glass inner surfaces, giving the impression of a culture growth in a petri dish. Some are short and some are continuous, from end to end of the glass. At the filter "equator" lies a straight long one. Near the "poles" the number increases, adapting to the the filter curvature.
The color and brightness resembles caramel.

Excuse me for the lengthy and cumbersome description. It is a beautiful filter which I'd love to recover.
Now the questions: is this a case of balsam separation? If so, can it be reversed by heating under pressure (how hot, for how long) or old balsam must be discarded? Thank you for your comments.
