First rule of the A-1. Unless you are operating in full manual mode, never take the lens off of "A" (or the green circle if older FD lenses). If you want aperture priority, move the control to "Av" and choose a lens opening. Resist all urges to move the aperture to the value you want to use as it does not work that way.

"EEEEE" is a generic error code. Try removing the lens and make sure the depth of field control is not in use (i.e. the red dot at the bottom of the lens mount opening is NOT visible. Then make sure the lens levers are in the proper location - the "stepped" one belongs at the bottom most portion of its slot. Put the lens back on "A" and remount.
