Maybe like the IIIa too, but I can't remember. That hidden screw is a pain to get to, and then you have to mess with slow speeds registration/adjustment/etc. when reassembling. Just one more reason why I like the IIIc and IIIf more -- easier to get into and fix. Your instructions are just like my experience. Thanks for writing it all down and sharing! I've never even held a Tower(Nicca) Leica copy. Do you like it? Does it compare with a IIIa, IIIc?
