The lens barrel has no slits or pinholes so you really have to remove it by using a rubber tool (like i did) or using a special type of clamping lensspanner. I strongly recommend using a rubber tool as using a clamping lensspanner might cause damage to the barrel or even the glass element when there is too much tightening force.
