I used toothpaste to remove superglue form an glass 1A filter and it left the filter hopelessly scratched with very fine fog like scratches. I used a cosmetics cotton pad. The finest eyeglasses polishing compounds I have seen are 1.1 micron particle size, but are too expensive to buy in the quantities they sell, so I haven't tried them.
I will try the Flitz on the filter, but it sounds like it will not polish the scratches out.
