Paul,

The ASA dial is a little tricky on re-assembly on the K1000 (and the Spotmatic etc). You have to make sure that everything is aligned properly inside the shutter speed dial before you close it all up.

The trick is to make sure that the ASA dial can move up and down against the spring and that it stays that way after re-assembly. Just going by memory.....
