I picked up a Konair Ruby compact 35mm rangefinder (by Yamato, c. late 1950's) which appears to be almost the same as the more common Pax M3 (also Yamato) - except with a slower f/3.5 45mm lens. My current problem is in trying to remove its stuck rewind knob. This camera has a removable back/bottom, so the rewind knob does not pull up like many. The knob will only turn about a half turn. There is a screw in the inside that secures the forked film post to the knob. But removing the screw does not release the knob or the fork. I suspect some of the same lube that is likely locking the focus is also locking the rewind knob. My question is how does the fork/knob come apart?? Do they unscrew or just pull apart? I don't want to break anything. I am considering a lke lighter fluid soak, followed by hair dryer heat to try to loosen it up. There are no signs of a bent knob or anything. Thanks for any help. |
