I recently acquired a mint Ricoh XR-M 35mm SLR. According to the manual, when I load film and close the camera back, the film should automatically be advanced to "1". The first time I tried this, the film did not advance automatically until I fired the shutter. The manual states that the camera retains previous camera settings in memory for 30 minutes. I removed the batteries, waited an hour, then reinserted them. Once I did that, the film advanced automatically without having to press the shutter button. Is this characteristic of the XR-M? Do I always have to remove the batteries, and then reinsert them to make the camera advance a roll of film automatically due to memory retention. Has anyone encountered this issue with their Ricoh XR-M? In other words, shouldn't auto advance work every time without having to remove and reinsert the batteries? Any input is appreciated |
