This is an early all metal version. The iris blades are OK but there is quite a bit of dirt within the aperture cavity, most of it sticking to the last glass of the front cell. (The ingress of dust & dirt seems to be a common problem with Olympus lenses.) I have taken off the filter and aperture actuating rings to reveal 2 retaining rings: one which could hold the front element and maybe more, and behind that, very close to the helicoid, a semi-slotted ring which could hold the whole front cell but possibly a lot more. So I'm in a bit of a quandry, which is the best one to attempt to unscrew?? |
