Has anyone seen this issue? I have a Yashica-Mat that when you turn the focusing knob, the lens assembly moves in and out as it should but focus is not achieved in the focusing screen. You can see it moving around a bit but nothing like focus is attained. I'm wondering where to start. Any ideas would be much appreciated. thanks

Something major in the viewing system comes to mind: damaged viewing lens, detached mirror... do you hear any rattles? I would start by removing the hood and looking for something that's come loose... screen, lens or mirror.

I had this happen - with a different camera altogether - but found that the viewing lens had been removed and put back with the elements in the wrong positions.
