I believe the light meter on my vintage FM2 may be going. I replaced the batteries recently to see if that was the problem, but it seems to be more serious. The camera is periodically overexposing frames by one stop or more when the light meter says the exposure is correct. Is this a common problem and would a skilled camera repair person be able to correct it? Look forward to your responses! |

What do you mean by "periodically" ? Do you mean intermittently or to portray the error as a continuing gradual decay? |

Intermittently. Happened on several rolls in a row. Then I changed the battery and the problem appeared to have stopped. Now it's started again. |

First off you need to determine if the meter is indeed giving an incorrect measurement. Check against another camera or use the 'sunny 16' rule. If the meter is accurate the problem could be with the shutter timing solenoid or, less likely, a slow iris in the lens you are using. |
