The infinity focus appears to be off a bit on my Mercury II, Model CX. I am checking it using the slr collimation technique illustrated by Rick Oleson and Mike Elek. It is a unit focus design, so it looks like the mount has to be adjusted somehow. I'd like to accomplish it with as little disassembly as possible. |

I made a shim for the lens from a business card. Seems to be about right; I'll find out for sure soon. Also replaced a missing pin in the shutter selector button with a piece of paperclip, and that also seems to be working fine. These fixes are functional but not very elegant. If someone has some relevant experiences with this interesting old camera, I'd still be very interested in hearing about it. |
