Hi!

In an earlier discussion I asked about how to remove a tessar rear element from it's brass ring. I got the lens out and the lens was repaired and now I'm trying to put it back into the ring.
Although I got the rings rolled edge bent ok and the edge is intact, but it seems that merely bending the rim edge back isn't enough to hold the lens in place. I was thinking about glueing the lens so it would stay in place, but I need some suggestions on what glue to use.

If the brass rim is wrapped around enough to hold the lens but it's just a bit loose, you might try some black enamel applied to the gap between the rim and the glass, allowing the paint to wick into the gap and fill it....

I'm not sure if I can risk it with black enamel, I have just one try...I was thinking of using the same glue that is used for cementing lenses together as it seems that before removing the lens there was some left over canadian balsam between the ring and the lens that was holding it in place.
