The lens on the XA2 is not internally focused the way the one on an XA is. When you move the focus lever, you should see the front of the lens rotate in and out. Since you have the bottom of the camera off already, you're half way there. Take the cover of the camera off, being careful not to lose the little aluminum dowel on the top, and remove the front cover of the camera by taking out one or two screws from the front right side, and one from inside the film compartment near the take up spool. Once the front cover is off, you should be able to clearly see the linkage mechanism between the focus lever and the lens itself, and be able to figure out where it's disconnected. Bear in mind that closing the cover always bumps the lens back to the intermediate focusing settings, so keep an eye on that, too. It shouldn't be too hard to get your little camera going again!
