Hi everyone - I hope it turns out I'm glad I found this site - I have several cameras in the DIY repair shop - but I'll start with this one.

camera - Minolta AF maxxum 7000
new battery (not internal)

problem - fires the shutter a couple times then quits - after a time sometimes fires again. When I use the remote cable shutter release fires all the time. This is with all lenses.

My thoughts as to the problem - possible grime where the shutter release contacts are. or internal lithium battery going dead?...

If it is the contacts - anyone that knows how to clean this and with what; an exploded view of the area and how to remove and replace the parts at the shutter release please email me. this is a camera I use so all the help in remeding this would be appreciated.

internal lythium battery...does this sound like a simptom of the internal battery going dead? when using the remote cable release has no problems...at least not yet... any thoughts...

TIA

I also use the maxxum 7000, great camera.

The problem very probably is with the shutter release switch. I can assure you that the internal lithium battery has nothing to do with the problem, as I have been using mine with a "dead" internal battery since 1998. Unfortunately, I'm of no help as to the actual repair/replacement of the shutter release switch.

Good luck.
