Hello My first post to here. I have this leica m2 which shutter release button doesen't release the shutter unles I insert a small pin to the cable release hole or use a cable releaser. Is this difficult to repair? The shutter works otherwhise quite good. |

Leicas are hard to fix without the correct tools for dismantling. It might be best to have the camera overhauled by a Leica specialist. P Laskey |

If the problem is only caused by wear there is an adjustment you can try. If it has other causes, the previous poster is correct in directing you to a Leica tech. These cameras are assembled VERY tightly! Therefore special tools and skills are helpful. But the biggest reason is that these M Leicas are expensive in collector value. Messed up fasteners lower the value tremendously. If you can't walk this road without leaving footprints consider the Leica tech. But...here is the adjustment anyway. Remove the back. Then remove the cover showing how to load film. Adjust by loosening the nut then turning the setscrew. In the picture it is called "setscrew adjustment". /image{M2 adjustment} |
