When you adjust a Bessa RF rangefinder, you do so by sighting on a target at a known distance (let's say 10 feet), and gluing in the distance indicator plate so the arrow shows that distance (10 feet). However, when you measure the distance, to set up the target, do you measure from the film plane or from the lens? I just set one and the film indicator plate looks crooked.

Well, that's what I thought, but the indicator isn't straight.

Your statement that "you do so by sighting on a target at a known distance (let's say 10 feet)" is surprising. Although I do not dismiss whatever the source of that information, such is not the conventional rangefinder calibration procedure.

You would normally (routinely) first check for true infinity of the lens per viewing an infinity scene on ground glass screen in the film-plane. If found correct then affix the indicator plate to read Infinity. All the other distance indications should by the fundamental design, be correct in practice.
