Is there any way to remove the yellowing from the plastic lenses on flash units? Can you polish the yellow away or does it go all the way through the plastic?

I,ve used polish called Flitz it,s non abrasive no ammonia metal polish that,s done great job of taking out discoloration out of my cars plastic outer headlight covers. It makes them look almost like new and lasts for months. It does,nt leave any hazing marks. I,m sure it,ll do the job on your flash unit. James

It seems to be due to molecular breakup in polycarbonate/ABS - this is UV mediated and if the material had UV blocking additives, it may be quite superficial so that it can be polished out of the plain side. But it may affect the fresnel side as well, which can't be cleaned without affecting its function, and I have seen a few older Metz and Vivitar flashes where the plastics yellowed (or rather, browned) in full strength.
