OK I Have the seals and dampers all replaced and cleaned the shutters, but now I noticed that when I activate the shutters, first it seems like the mirror slowly lifts and when it hits the damper, the shutter goes off, at what I think is the right speed and it doesn't stick to the damper like it did and seem to put the mirror down at the right speed. It's the mirror rising slow thats not right. Any thoughts |

You've cleaned off the goo you can see from the outside, but there's more of it on the inside. It has gummed up the mirror actuating mechanism, and the mirror box will have to be pulled to clean it. More info can be found here: https://kyp.hauslendale.com/classics/pentaxmeramblings.html |

few pic's regarding cleaning the sticky bumpers on the mirror cage. (shutter button side of the mirror cage) http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09467.jpg closer look. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09468.jpg clean both sides of the lever. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09469.jpg clean the edge of this too. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09470.jpg I just use some old heat sink for the replacement bumper. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09471.jpg the shock absorber is shorter than the post. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09472.jpg don't forget to clean the screw. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09473.jpg installed http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09474.jpg another bumper that the iris control lever hits. This can be removed without replacing. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09477.jpg There's a third bumper under there. I just leave it alone. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09483.jpg Two more shock absorber's in the shutter ass'y http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/hand666/DSC09487.jpg |

I seem to have the same problem - the screw that you remove in those photos (the flathead in the middle of this photo http://s384.photobucket.com/user/hand666/media/DSC09474.jpg.html) seems to need both lubricating AND threadlocking - if it's tight then the cocking latch won't descend, but if it's loose then it'll work free. Is there supposed to be a washer? Am I missing something? |
