Anyone know where to get a new rubber keypad for a Sekonic L-518 Digipro X-1? The main Sekonic support says they don't have any. Same for their AZ repair location. |

If you find a new keypad, I'd be interested in one as well. My on off button is giving me problems, I have to fiddle with it to get the unit to turn on. |

Oh, that is an easy fix. Disassemble it and remove the keypad then wipe the underside with a rag damped in lighter fluid. Do the same for the contact points on the pc board that the keypad makes contact with. That should fix it.
I have to clean the tv remote a few times a year because it gets some green stuff interfering with the contacts. |

Wel I finally got around to cleaniong the buttons n contacts. It went from intermitent on/off to absolutely no on at all. I've never had any luck with rubber keypads.
Anyone know where I can get a rubber button keypad?
I'm going to call MAC group as they are the ones that do the repairs n see if they'd sell me the part.
Meanwhile I'm open to sugestions?

I have the same problem on a tv remote. I'm going to try cutting out the contact points from a new generic remote and "glue" them onto the defective pad wherever needed. If that doesn't work, and I'm almost sure it won't, then I'll try scraping off the contact meterial from the generic keypad and, hmm, how am I going to put that on the old keypad? |

HAHAHAHHA I was thinking of making a hole in the top of the keys to stick a metal shorting rod in when I want to turn it on n off.
Perhps finding another rubber key pad n slicing the pads off to glue on this one may work.. you may be onto something there.
I'll call MAC tomorrow n see if we can find the stinking strip of keys.. I'll expect if they do have the part they will charge an arm n a leg n mabe a first born son, cash or gold up front.
It's such a clever way to make an otherwise great piece of equipment into crap.
BTW I saw their repair rates a few months ago for this meter... $70 for minor repairs, $130 for major repairs. Guess what this is?... a major repair! So I wonder what a minor repair might be.. a screw missing? |

OK so self stick boiler tape is the solution. I now have a brand new meter. I did all the buttons because when I checked em with my VOM none were conduting.
BTW there are 2 gray buttons on the back of the meter.. what are they for? |
