I have a Canon F-1N that for some reason it does not fire when I put a fresh battery to it. Without the battery it works fine for the mechanical speeds, but when I put the battery on it does not fire at all. I have an AE prism on it. Is the camera damaged? |

Hello When you put a battery in, there is a mechanical switch behind it that allows the shutter release to be used. If you remove the battery and hold down the battery bottom contact you will find that the shutter will not fire. What you need to do is remove the four screws from the battery sorround and remove the plate ( it will have a rubber seal around it ) you will then able to see the switch, most times this just sticks, remove the battery holder and try the switch a number of times, this should free it. I owe you big time Doug!!! You have really saved my days as there would have been no time to get it fixed by a specialist before Christmas! It works! Your suggestion did the trick! Many thanks and wishes for great holidays, Nikos. |
