my timer seems to have died. i cock it, press the shutter release, it starts and putters out after a second or so... the shutter does not fire, but i have to advance the film lever and do the samething over again. about a dozen times later the shutter fires and the timer is back at its original place... any suggestions??

Squirt a small amount of lighter fuel into the selftimer opening. Than use the selftimer a few times - that should hopefully fix it.

My suggestion, not as satisfying but based on years of experience, is DON'T USE the self timer in any older leaf shutter. Unless you really enjoy having your camera jam up solid, it's not worth it for a 10 second delay. |

Rick's advice sounds the best but if you are tempted to squirt in any cleaner, orient the camera so it will flow back out where you put it in, not drain across the lens elements and whatever else, taking any temporarily dissolved crud throughout the camera. |
