Sometimes, not all, after taking a picture, "help" appears in the data panel display and the camera can no longer take pictures. If you remove the batteries and replace it resets itself and then you can continue. Sometimes it happens many pictures in a row; other times you may go through half a roll without it happening. I use Kodak 800 film 99% of the time. Pictures come out great but it's a major annoyance. Any ideas? Thanks!

This might be attributed to the common aperture base problem. Can you tell if the aperture ring is firm at 2:00 o’clock or hanging loose at 5:00? If so, your camera needs a new aperture base.

I have a 500si with exactly the problem described by Garry. Do you know what the exact (common) problem is with the aperture base? something got loose? broke? stuck?

thanx
Mathieu
