Hi All, I got a Yashica 635 today. However, shutter speeds 1,2,5 and 10 are not working (shutter fires, but stays open). Do you think opening & cleaning it can help, or will it need a professional to do it ? I saw www.daniel.mitchell.name website, with some explanations how to open this thing, but I am afraid once I open it, I won't be able to assemble the pieces together again Thanks, Shay |

Shay, The slow speeds sticking like that indicates the pallet is dirty. Cleaning just the pallet may be enough and you won't need to disassemble the shutter. I haven't worked on a 635 so others will have to give you the steps on getting the shutter cover off. Best of luck. |

Hi, I just repared one like it.You can simply clean the shutter body with "carbon tetrachloride",but you have to remove the two lens(front and back) from it,and it will work well! |
