Hi All,
I got a Yashica 635 today. However, shutter speeds 1,2,5 and 10 are not working (shutter fires, but stays open).
Do you think opening & cleaning it can help, or will it need a professional to do it ?
I saw www.daniel.mitchell.name website, with some explanations how to open this thing, but I am afraid once I open it, I won't be able to assemble the pieces together again

Shay,
The slow speeds sticking like that indicates the pallet is dirty. Cleaning just the pallet may be enough and you won't need to disassemble the shutter.
I haven't worked on a 635 so others will have to give you the steps on getting the shutter cover off.

Hi,
I just repared one like it.You can simply clean the shutter body with "carbon tetrachloride",but you have to remove the two lens(front and back) from it,and it will work well! |
