Henry Taber

This site was founded by the late Henry Taber, Jr. and Kar Yan Mak. In 2013, the site was closed and transferred to another caretaker, but was not functional for posters, nor could you search the 45,000 posts. The dream of having a valuable resource for classic camera collectors and repair people was put on hold.

The site was resurrected and restored by it's current caretakers in June of 2020. The format, the look and functionality was kept as-is for the thousands of members that remember it, just like a a classic camera, restored to function once again for others to enjoy. You can read more about the concept of how the forum began from Henry in one of his former posts.

Every camera has a past and every camera has a story to tell. The places they have been, the hands they were held by. The intricate workings that make them unique and the way they capture a moment is like no other. Some are stubborn, but worth every effort of restoration.

Finding information on how to repair and restore these old beauties has always been a challenge and buried among site after site. This forum is a place for classic camera enthusiasts to share information on how to maintain and restore an old camera to working order.

If there is a camera that has sentimental value to you, we do ask that you have this restored by a professional. You don't want to use a sentimental camera as your first trial on repair or restoration. Enjoy the site!

Thank you Henry for laying the foundation for classic camera users and repair, your work and passion for cameras lives on.
