I've got an old Agfa folder with a one inch, or 25mm OD lens. What Series adapter would make it possible to mount a filter on it? |

Olly, I don't know if you have had any success with this. As far as I have found, Series adapters and filters are very confounding. I must have two different Series VI, VII, VIII filter sets and I can't figure out what to do with them and whether they were correct or not. http://www.vintagecameras.co.uk/filters.htm may have the filter size which you require if it is 25mm in diameter. Double check with a set of internal tooth calipers since it is more likely to be 25.5mm or thereabouts, as it was probably designated as an imperial measurement originally. Kind regards, RJ |

Thanks RJ. The Question of filters seems almost unanswerable! I guess nothing was standardized for quite some time, and it looks as though every camera company had their own proprietary system. If I had access to a lathe, I would make my own adapter. |

If the lens is 25mm OD, look for a 25mm push-on Series 5. I have a Series 5 28.5mm but I doubt if I can squeeze the prongs down to 25mm. Most old fashion camera stores (if they are still around) have a drawer or two of old filter holders just gathering dust. You might also be able to find a Series 6 that small. |

I have bought series adapters from a guy on ebay before, his moniker is macintoshcat and he has a large number of adapters for sale for very reasonable cost. He is very helpful and nice to deal with. See his current listing for series v adapters here http://cgi.ebay.com/Series-V-5-Adapter-Step-Rings-Screw-On-Push-On_W0QQitemZ1301 81699566QQihZ003QQcategoryZ30059QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem You need to send him a question to see if he actually has the adapter you are looking for. He is actually listing a 25mm push on adapter in the table of available ones. An alternative is to use email the guy who runs filterfind.net. I have had luck getting some hard to find filters/adapters from him. He has pretty reasonable prices. In particular, see http://filterfind.net/accessories.htm and click on the 'Stepping Rings' oval button, then click on the 'Series Adpaters' item. Now I've given away all my secrets... Good luck - Markus |
