I picked up a G-III QL17 not too long ago and I noticed a strange issue with the aperture blades when I was messing around with it. The shutter and aperture blades work fine (save for this problem). When I set an f/ stop manually the blades come down, but when I press the shutter button two of the bottom left blades move slightly. The other three blades show no movement at all. I dont know if I should just leave it be or consider having it CLA'd. Or if its do-able try cleaning out the aperture blades, like the article found here. I included a link to a short video I made recording the problem. http://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a143/ItsReallyDarren/?action=view¤t=P103 0762.flv http://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a143/ItsReallyDarren/?action=view¤t=P103 0761.flv |

My QL19 does this also. The difference in aperture size is quite small, I wouldn't worry about it. |

My QL19 also has some movement of the blades, although less than yours. I would leave it alone. |

Both my ql17's do this. I noticed it years ago. It has no effect that I can notice. Of course I have not compared results with a cam that does not have this condition (if there is one?). Andy |

Whether in auto or manual mode, the blades somehow have to be activated, and part of the leverage is "active" even in manual mode, this is what causes the movement, this is a feature, not a fault. If you open up a Canonet for finding out how all the internals go together the mechanism turns out to be rather complex, almost over-engineered linkage system, so don't worry, W. |
