I've got 2x XE-7s with very erratic light meters and a 3rd junker XE-7 I can practice on. On the practice camera, I've already got the top stripped down to the potentiometer that is linked to the aperture selector ring. However, I'm not sure what to do from here. Does the POT need to be replaced or just cleaned? Are there any other points I should clean/replace/test? How? |

I would suggest cleaning the aperature pot, and the shutter selector pot as well. The shutter pot is the one underneath the shutter speed dial--give the wipers a good clean as well. If this doesn't correct the problem, one of the four very small trimpots on the flex board adjusts the light meter indication and should be cleaned/checked. It is the one 2nd from the left, closest to you when you look at the camera from the back. But try the other pots first, and leave this one alone if you can. Let us know what happens. Paul |
