I'm working on an Autoreflex T,(1969 model), the problem was a sticky shutter release so it seemed to be a case of pulling the front panel and replacing a rubber bumper that had dissolved into a sticky mess. That was the easy bit! Refitting the front panel is proving very difficult.

The recommended sequence is: release the mirror, cock the shutter, carefully slide panel into place, then press the mirror release tab at top of mirror box. Having done that the panel will not sit flat on the wind-on side unless the release shaft is depressed, then the panel clicks into place but the auto ring turns fully clockwise as if it is doing an auto exposure. On recocking the shutter the auto ring won't return to its proper home position. I'm baffled! Any suggestions?

PS the optimum thickness of the rubber replacement pad is about 2.5mm and shoe heel rubber seems to do the job.
