After working perfectly for well over a year since I bought it, the light metre in my Pentax MX seems to have stopped working. I've tried a new set of batteries, but it still refuses to work. I can't get any of the LED's to even light up. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be the problem and, if so, whether it is something I might be able to put right myself. I'm not too keen on paying someone else to do it, as it only cost me £60 in the first place. Cheers |

Make sure the new batteries are good. If so, remove the bottom cover & clean the battery contacts. If still no go, then push the shutter button down & look at the front corner on the wind side base where you should see the metering sw. move down as you push. Sw. may be oxidised or has slight bit of debris. Try a gentle cleaning w/a #1 brush dipped in lighter fluid. There is an eccentric for adj. but try cleaning 1st. |
