I recently acquired a nikon n2020. It worked but while still unacquanited with camera, and while manipulating it, it stopped working and also the battery nearest ground heated up, along with the ground terminal. After a while, it went back to working. Does anyone have experience with these? Will it prove unreliable or was I doing something wrong?

As long as you inserted the battery correctly you didn't do anything wrong. There could possibly be a short in the wiring to the battery or some trace on the board tht was not caught at the factory that burned off when you started using it. Someone may have had this happen before and I'm sure they will let you know. One thing I can think of (make sure you have the right battery) Maybe you can go through the same manipulations as before and see what did it...Don
