I was walking down the street today when my XA fell out of my pocket onto the street. Minor scratches on the body, but now the needle in the viewfinder doesn't respond. The batteries are fresh, and changing ISO, releasing the shutter, advancing, etc. does nothing. The meter controlling the shutter seems to be okay; it fires at different speeds according to the f-stop set. What is the problem? Is it easy to fix? Any help greatly appreciated |

I had a similar thing happen to my XA. I opened the camera up and took a look, then decided that fiddling with the meter that is visible in the viewfinder was beyond my skills. The camera works well without that viewfinder meter, which is just for display purposes, as there is another circuit that sets the exposure time. Without the viewfinder meter, I just have to be a bit more careful in setting the aperture, such that I don't end up with an exposure time that is too long. Keeping in mind sunny-16 for aperture selection does the trick. |
