I recently purchased a Zenit-E in a second-hand shop. When i pressed the shutter button, nothing happened. I opened the back, and the shutter was stuck half open. I turned the dial on the top to B, then tapped the shutter gently. (the actual thing not the button). The shutter slid open. Then, when I turned the dial again, it closed. But still the shutter button does nothing. What do I do? |

I must have left my brain in the shop when i bought the camera- all it needed was a screw tightening, and the rewind button pressing. Now it works fine, and the shutters open/close smoothly. |

Sounds as if the shutter was tensioned and left stored and weakened the barrel springs, also before retensioning give the camera a good cleaning and lube pivots for shutter barrel. If it is still sluggish then go to the bottom and give the shutter screws a 1/4 turn at a time until it works normal. A lot of times they just need cleaning. To access the inside of the bottom just remove 2-screws. Check Rick Olesons link here on the site. Good luck...Don |
