My IIIf has developed a problem, the advance has started slipping. It happens about 1 to 2 times out of 5 or 6 advances. After taking a shot, I turn the advance knob, but it doesn't always catch; the advance knobs spins very smoothly without any tension. After about 3 turns I can feel it catch and it advances properly (I can hear the film moving and feel the tension.) Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Is something broken? Can I squirt some lighter fluid in and fix it? |

Deep inside your 3f in the takeup chamber and attached to the rewind lever on the top is a link this disengages the gears check to see if when you advance without film ,Does it slip or only with a drag from the load of advancing film? This is the area to check. Make sure the rewind lever is all the way to advance when using. Another thing can happen and that is the takeup spool slips while advancing. Usually the film will bunch up in a mess first. There are slots in the drive hub. They can be oopened more if this is the problem. Good luck and let me know how your'e doing. Don |
