I'm embarrassed! First time a top plate has me flummoxed! With screws & knobs removed it is loose enough to move about, but refuses to shift. Why? All donations gratefully received.

Barnum,
Did you remove the leather skin and take the screws off the front as well? It's sort of a clamshell arrangement, the top and bottom half are attached at the front underneath the leather. I did this about 10 years ago, so I'm just going by memory. I'll get the camera out if that doesn't work and give you some better directions if needed. I remember it being put together weird for a viewfinder camera.

Hi!
It seemed logical that extra screws could be at the front, but wanted confirmation before stripping the skin back. Was yours jammed, if so, what was the cause? Mine was thrown in with a deal, but such a pretty job deserved a second chance, or so went my thinking......
Thank you

No, actually the problem with mine was that the lens was slightly loose, and it needs refoaming. I fixed the lens problem, but never refoamed or reskinned it (as yet, that is). Other than that, it works fine, even the meter works. I also need to resolder the flash cord receptacle wiring. Too many cameras, not enough free time.

Hello again.
Camera is apart, thanks. I know the feeling, re; restoration-etc. What with home/wife/mutt/MGB etc,
I'm a shadow of my former self!
Regards,
Barnum
